Shane and I drove to Boston on a snowy 

December day and moved into 808 Memorial Drive in Cambridge. This was Christmas of '79 and Kurtis Blow's Christmas Rappin' had just hit the charts.

We got jobs and pretty quickly formed a group. I remember we rehearsed in Dorchester and called ourselves Libido. The other members were a Who-loving and guitarist named Mike Mallen (RIP) and a tough-Irish-kid drummer, Kevin Finn. Somehow this band doesn't warrant its own page. We never played out.

Months later I spotted a tall, lanky punk on the Green Line with a Fender guitar case handcuffed to his wrist. Mike Finley had just relocated from NYC and was looking to start a band.
